On behalf of the State President, Deputy PM Nguyễn Thiện Nhân on July 22 handed over the first-class Independence Medal (the second time) and the Prime Minister’s certificate of merit to the Education’s Labor Union.

The hand-over took place at the 60th founding anniversary of the Labor Union of the education sector (July 22nd, 1951 – 2011), attended by Deputy PM NNguyen Thien Nhan, Chairman of the Việt Nam General Federation of Labor Đặng Ngọc Tùng, and Minister of Education and Training Phạm Vũ Luận.

By the academic year of 2010-2011, the sector had had over 1.3 million officials, lecturers, teachers and workers, 30,901 more than the previous year.
Addressing the ceremony, Deputy PM Nguyen Thien Nhan confirmed that the Labor Union of the education sector has, over the past 60 years, strived to overcome difficulties, and reform organization, content and operation methods to take care and protect the legitimate interests of teachers; and actively inspect and monitor the implementation of the sector-related mechanisms and polices.
